More migrant detention centers to be built in the US

The United States under the administration of US President Donald Trump may build new migrant detention centers near major cities in the country, including Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago and Denver, NBC News reports.

“Cities with large migrant populations – such as Denver, Los Angeles, Miami and Chicago – may need additional detention centers to hold migrants detained there (in these cities – ed.). The administration may also need to reopen, expand or build new facilities … near New York, Philadelphia and Washington,” the channel notes.

It is noted that the Trump administration wants to double the number of beds in temporary detention centers where detained migrants await deportation to their country, and is in talks with companies specializing in private prisons about this.
